How to decorate an accent table
Accent tables are a great way to use a small piece of furniture to greatly impact your living space. How you decorate an accent table is also a great way to incorporate your personality into your home.
Choosing the right decor for your accent table or where to place it can be challenging. Decorating an accent table differs from decorating a coffee table because its main objective is to elevate your home’s aesthetic rather than being strictly practical.
So I am dedicating this post to guide you on how to decorate your accent tables while keeping them functional and aesthetically pleasing simultaneously!

Add Baskets and Trays
You can add baskets or trays to your accent table if there is enough space. Many of them are visually pleasing, and they also add a sense of purpose and organization to your home decor.
Avoid baskets or trays that take up most of the surface area of a smaller accent table. The addition can be skipped if your table is too small, or if you decide to add one, make sure it is small as well!
Incorporate Greenery
I am always looking for ways to add more greenery to my house. It’s the perfect way to bring a fresh and lively vibe to your spaces!
You can add a touch of natural beauty to your space by placing a small plant or flowers on an accent table (faux or real). Plus, they’re an easy piece to switch out as you update your decor throughout the seasons! A cute little arrangement between two accent chairs always makes me smile!
Play with Height
Adding height to an accent table is always a good idea! Creating visual interest and adding dimension to your display can be achieved by adding height.
You can choose one main object, which is usually the tallest one, and then add some smaller items around it depending on the size of your accent table.
Add Some Light
If your accent table is small enough that all you can fit on it is a lamp, then that’s okay! You can include lighting in your house decor if you choose one that fits your style!
If you have a larger accent table then you can also try adding two matching candles or small table lamps at either end to add some balance and symmetry.
Use Functional Decor Pieces
From a practical mindset, using functional decor is the best way to get the most bang for your buck. Baskets, Lighting, and trays are all great examples of functional decor pieces.
These will help to organize your clutter while also elevating the look of your space!
Select a Color Scheme
Pick colors for the accent table that match the room’s overall style. This will make everything look cohesive and connected in your living room.
Rotate Seasonal Decor
The best way to keep your accent table looking fresh is by rotating your seasonal decor items. This ensures that the space remains dynamic and continues to stay on theme with the rest of your house.
Choose a Focal Point
Interior designers have been sharing this tip for years, but don’t forget to always choose a focal point or theme for your accent table. It could be a decorative item, a piece of art, or even a stack of books.
A focal point will help you create a cohesive look and give you a helpful starting point when choosing the remainder of your decor!
Baskets
As mentioned above, baskets are a great way to add a functional element to your accent table decor. They’re also a wonderful way to add some texture to the mix and I love using them to display my favorite coffee table books!
When selecting a basket for your table, consider its size. I recommend this small basket set from Amazon—it not only adds a natural touch to your entry but also comes at an affordable price!
Vases
Vases are a great option to decorate an accent table because there are so many different shapes and colors that you’re sure to find one you love! Plus, you can always toss in a few of your favorite real or faux stems for an extra pop of color.
You’ll discover plenty of budget-friendly choices both online and in your preferred local stores. I personally adore this lovely terracotta vase from Target, as well as the neutral earthenware option.
Lamps
As I mentioned earlier, a great decorating tip is to incorporate lighting options. Whether you’re styling a console table, nesting table, or accent table, lamps serve both practical and aesthetic purposes. For larger accent tables, consider this lovely set of two cottage-style lamps to achieve symmetry. If you have a smaller table, look for an appropriately sized lamp to complement it, just like the one you mentioned!
Trays
Trays are a small and simple way to decorate and organize your things. You can find many different styles, textures, sizes, and colors.
I like this hand-woven tray because it is useful and adds texture to the room. If you want a more elegant look, try this beautiful travertine tray!
Candles and Candle Holders
Glass candles are a nice decoration that adds beauty and warmth to a table. Even if they are just for show, they still make your home feel cozy.
I love these antique-style candle holders, and they look great with flameless candles from Amazon. If you want a candle that smells nice too, a simple one from Target is a good choice.
Mirrors
Putting a small decorative mirror on the accent table is one of my favorite ideas because it makes the space look bigger! It reflects light, making the area feel brighter and larger.
Pick a frame that matches your decor and consider the size of the mirror compared to the wall space and your accent table. I love this beautiful arched mirror in my home, especially because of its neutral color!
15 Beautiful Home Decorating Ideas with Flameless Candles
Looking for beautiful, stylish decorating ideas with flameless candles? This post will help you display flameless candles in an elegant, simple, and fun way for your home.
There isn’t much difference between flameless candles and real candles, so you can use them just about anywhere you would use a real candle. The main advantages of LED candles over real wax candles are: No oxygen is needed for the flame.
- No risk of fires.
It is possible to use flameless candles in enclosed areas like glass cloches – in an enclosed space, a real wax candle would eventually burn out.
The second benefit is that battery-operated candles are safe to use around kids and pets, making flameless candles a great choice for all households.
Flameless candles come in various shapes, sizes, and colors. There are many types of fake candles available on the market today, from large electric Christmas candles to cute little faux tealights.
